Installing your new Shell Water System will vary, depending on your current plumbing situation. Give us a call and we can help you with your specific situation. If you have pre-plumbing for water treatment in your home then this could be a simple DYI. If you do not have accessible plumbing this is NOT a DYI project. All installations are different depending on the main water line and where it enters the home. We suggest hiring a professional. This is plumbing and should be done by a licensed professional. We can help you find someone in your area!
Determine your need for water treatment. Once you have determined what you are targeting and what you want to filter than you can began to choose products. You need to research what media is inside the tank, that is what filters the water. We use a special designed tank to prevent channeling of media and maximize pressure throughout the home. We also give you more media inside the tank than any of our competitors to ensure every single drop of water is filtered.
A company who is transparent and honest. Not overwhelming you and not pushing you into a “one day sale’ decision. Those are sales tactics. Look at warranty, media, and pay attention to their customer service! Here at Shell Water Systems our customers mean everything to us!
This is a CHOICE. You need to determine what is best for you and your family. Look at the Pros and Cons of each unit and make a decision. Remember Salt base water softeners remove the minerals from the water and salt free conditioners leave in the minerals breaking them down into a form they are not sticking to the plumbing. You need to fully understand this in order to choose the right product.
Review our return policy. Pay attention to additional shipping cost. This is why it is so very important to be 100% confident in the initial purchase. So try hard to make sure you are confident in what you choose and what you are targeting and the results you are going to get.

We can recommend someone for you but we do not give out pricing for installation, that will be between you and the company who installs the unit.
The only way to install at the hot water heater is if the main water line is accessible and does not tee off before the hot water heater. If you put it right on the hot water side you are only filtering hot water and defeating the purpose of your unit by mixing filtered hot water and unfiltered cold water. This will not give you the results you deserve.
Your irrigation water should not go through your filtration system.

Yes, all of units are rated for the outdoor elements. Each tank has a Neoprene Jacket keeps your tank in nice condition from scratches, marks and also reduces the condensation and sweat that the tank produces. The Jacket also prevents puddles forming on the floor for indoor use. It can easily be put on or removed by the zipper with out moving the plumbing or valves.
Our Salt Based Water Softener, has a Strong, durable Noryl® valve body with weather and insect resistant one-piece slide cover.
Vortech® is the world’s most innovative and efficient universal distribution system for water treatment systems, in filtration and softening applications. The design creates fluidity of the media bed and extends contaminant removal capacity; which means less regenerations and significant reduction of water use saving water, salt and the environment, with backwash flow rate reductions of at least 30%.
Carbon media and KDF55 needs to be replace every 5-7 years depending on water usage or every 1,000,000 gallons.
Resin (Salt based water softener) will need to be replaced every 10-12 years. If you have carbon filtration prior to the softener this will drastically expand the years of replacement to 12-20 years. If your water softener doesn’t put out any soft water or it regenerates and runs out of soft water quickly (in just a day or so), you probably have a damaged “resin bed” and it is time to replace.
The effective average lifespan of FILTERSORB® SP3 (Salt free conditioning) is 3 to 5 years, depending on the feed water conditions. Can double lifespan with Whole House Filtration prior to salt free filtration.
Order replacement media on our site, remove the expired media from the tank and replace with new media. Refer to our “How to replace media” video.
You will need to change the 5 micron sediment filter every 9-12 months depending on water quality. We have the filters for sale on our site and it comes with the O-ring and lube. Average cost is about $30-40.00 for TWO . The filter sits inside the blue tube. The O-ring sits on top of the canister and will need to be properly put on and lubed.
